This is a postcard that I made to advertise my recital. I ended up being very pressed for time and instead of trying to create something completely new, I borrowed a classic bauhaus design by Jan Tschichold.

This is a poster I made for my first graduate recital at UNCSA. As I was putting the poster together I realized that I had an international mix among the composers, with only one American in the bunch! I thought it would be interesting to put each person’s name in their native tongue. The background photo was actually taken by my son. I think it’s a bit quirky with the water bottle, but really like the color contrast and composition of the shot so I’m keeping it!

In the fall of 2008 I was involved in a photo shoot at UNCSA for publicity materials for an upcoming concert. We performed Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra with dancers performing Jerome Kern’s choreography. Each musician is paired with their dancer counterpart and UNCSA Chancellor John Mauceri is in the center of the photo.

With Evelyn Glennie after a lesson I had with her at the Stevens Center in Winston-Salem. As a side note, she was demonstrating her idea of how I should play part of a piece I was working on and broke one of her marimba mallets. I guess it’s good it happened during the lesson rather than her performance!
